MEZ WORKS FURNITURE - BUY BACK PROGRAM
Are you moving? Are your everyday functionality needs different than your original furniture purchase? Do you need a smaller or larger table than what you originally ordered? We are here to help! Life happens and sometimes you find yourself in a position where the furniture you purchased needs to find a new home. You may determine that trying to sell your item on platforms like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Nextdoor, or other online sites can be difficult to navigate, charge fees or require shipping, or you may have difficulty with collecting the amount you seek to sell the item for. Selling second-hand items can be tough! We came up with this program to make it a little easier on our clients who’s furniture needs have changed from their original purchase.
We have a new program where we offer to buy back your gently used Mez Works furniture so that you don’t have to go through the hassle of trying to sell it yourself. We feel that recycling and reusing materials whenever possible is a very important part of being a responsible, sustainable business. Depending on the condition of the item, we offer some solutions to helping you sell your item back to us for a partial refund, or swapping the amount/value toward a brand new piece.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1. Detailed images of the item must be sent to us for assessment and any signs of wear must be explained in detail. A complete refinishing fee is included in the buyback amount unless there are considerable damages that go beyond standard wear and tear (such as the need to replace something or modify the design to a more standard sellable size if your original piece was made at custom dimensions), in which additional costs may incur. Concealed damages that are not disclosed will be deducted from the buyback amount.
2. Original shipping or delivery costs will not be refunded or included in the buyback amount.
3. Return shipping (or pickup) costs are the client’s responsibility. We can assist with our time by helping to set up a return shipment at no additional charge, but the costs to ship will be deducted from the buyback amount or client can pay the shipper directly. We can also arrange a pickup if the item is located within our local service area at our standard rates.
4. Original sales tax amount will not be included in the buyback amount (sales tax is non-refundable).
5. If your original order was a rush/expedited order, rush fees will not be included in the buyback amount.
6. Restock fee: Standard buyback amounts are similar to a restock fee, but buyback items are considered to be “used” and the item has to be fully refinished before we are able to resell it to another customer. Any new customer purchasing the buyback item will be purchasing it at a discounted rate since the item is restocked (not technically brand new). As such, below is a breakdown of the general restock costs:
The buyback amount essentially takes the item price (excluding tax and shipping or delivery costs) and subtracts an approximate 65% restock fee (unless otherwise assessed) for an approximate 35% refund. See section 1 as well as section 8 below that explain certain exceptions (such as excessive wear/tear or damages that go beyond normal use in which we may assess a smaller buyback amount).
Client will be paid the buyback amount within 30 days of Mez Works receiving the item back at our workshop. In most cases, the client will be paid back upon pickup via check, or a check sent within about 2 weeks of the item being delivered to our workshop.
Example Breakdown #1 (local/California with pickup): The following example is just a rough breakdown of costs versus buyback amount on an item that is within our delivery radius ~ For an item that is gently used without additional repairs required that are beyond normal use, if your purchase was originally a $3500 item price + $306.25 sales tax + $395 delivery fee, the buyback amount you will receive is going to be approximately 35% of the original item price = $1225. The sales tax amount of $306.25 and delivery fee of $395 is non-refundable. Transport back to our workshop can be arranged by us at our current rates if the item was delivered by us, in which the cost would be deducted from the overall buyback amount.
Example Breakdown #2 (for items that require shipping): The following example is just a rough breakdown of costs versus buyback amount on an item that was shipped/out of state ~ For an item that is gently used without additional repairs required that are beyond normal use, if your purchase was originally a $3500 item price + $500 shipping, the buyback amount you will receive is going to be approximately 35% of the original item price = $1225. The original shipping amount is non-refundable. Client will be responsible for any shipping costs to return the item back to our workshop. We can assist to set up a return shipment, but client will arrange to pay costs (or we can deduct them from the buyback amount).
7. All buybacks are subject to our discretion and not all items are guaranteed to be taken back. Each circumstance will be individually assessed.
8. If there are any concealed damages that were not disclosed prior to returning the item to Mez Works, additional repair costs may incur and will be deducted from the buyback amount. Be sure to disclose any and all details of the condition of the item in your buyback inquiry to be certain that the buyback amount is assessed correctly.
9. Prefer to use your buyback as a store credit instead? An extra 5% will be added to the buyback amount you use it toward a brand new item. The difference between the new item and buyback amount must be paid up front in order for the project to be added to our queue.
10. Must be original owners of the item, unless special circumstances are specified.
EXCLUSIONS & EXCEPTIONS:
Our standard buyback program unfortunately excludes slab projects (example: live edge dining tables, etc) due to the smaller margins we have on slab furniture as a result of the high material costs. A buyback assessment can still be made and we may make certain exceptions, however each project will be determined individually by the original material costs incurred. If we agree to buyback a slab project, the buyback amount will deduct the original material cost of the slab, plus our buyback terms & conditions noted above.
