Have a DIY-project that you’d like a little assistance with? We offer wide belt-sanding services to local woodworkers, hobbyists, builders, contractors and anyone in need of a rough sand to flatten wood for various projects.
Our wide-belt sanding services are great for those who are in need of slab-flattening, or home projects such as sanding doors, trim, wood countertops, or refinishing furniture. The sander can accommodate pieces up to 50" wide pieces and our space will typically accommodate anything up to about 14ft in length.
We also have an array of materials at our shop that range from discounted *priced below our cost* smaller cutoff wood pieces, as well as full length dimensional lumber, reclaimed lumber, and at random we will sometimes have slab wood available.
Woodworking finishing supplies for sale (Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil as well as other finishing products).
Shop rates are assessed per project and labor involved, and general costs range between $95-$185 per hour (depending on size/manageability, use of machinery, and # of people required, which is assessed by the size of the items being sanded). In most occurrences, only 1 person is required and only 1 hour of labor or less is necessary to accomplish the project. Standard rates apply to projects that can be completed upon our soonest availability (usually within 7-10 business days), or a rush order can be discussed at an expedited rate (completion within 3 business days for 20% overtime rate).
This service is intended to be a huge time-saver for our customers, to flatten your material and sand it up to a 120 grit, and the rest of your project would be DIY (you would need to sand it to your desired finished grit). Our services can also be especially accommodating for refinishing projects (flat surfaces only). We do not offer complete finish-sanding services or finish applications, only wide-belt sanding (the remainder of the process is for DIY-ers).
Please make sure to communicate to us what your finished thickness preference is. Ultimately, the condition of your material may be the determining factor of the ending thickness. But if you are trying to scale down the thickness of your project please let us know how thick/thin you want us to sand the material out to.
We cannot accept items that have thick epoxy-resin or thick lacquer finishes already applied (anything with a thick 'film' finish) due to causing buildup on our machines. But if a standard refinish is what you are in need of but your item has a thick finish on top, we recommend that you first use an orbital sander or handheld belt sander to remove most of the finish, and we can assist you with our wide belt sanding services from there.
